Pharmacology for Nursing essential for any nurse

This study guide is a great tool to understand the book. The only thing thats annoying is the answers are online, so to check if you are correct you have to sit down at the computer and find them all. To make this easier, i downloaded all the answers and saved them to a file on my computer, but I still don't like it as much as having the answers in the back, although it is saving a lot of paper, so that makes it worth it

Think it covers most of the bases. Drugs are current and up to date (2013). Guess I would have liked the PDR instead. Like Lipitor just became generic, they won't say when drugs are scheduled to be off patent. But enough about that. The stuff you need to know:
1) Classes of Drugs
2) Half-Life studies
3) Contraindications
4) Extraindications
5) Re-education
6) Intraindications
7) Circumindications
8) Postindications
9) Dissolution in rats
10) Unit dosing
11) Lethal OTC combos
12) Intervention
13) Convection
14) Conviction
14) Rehabilitation
15) When things are fubar
For IV's, it's all in unit dosing, but you probably have an app for that anyway. What it DOES NOT teach you is:
How to distract the DON while aides fall asleep.
Where the backup keys for the med wagon are.
How to make key copy impressions using bubble gum
Using complicated math entries in the ledger to hide missing stuff
Knowing how many narcs will be missing per shift
How to blame someone else

A Wealth of Information

I purchased this book to help study for my NLN in pharmacology;at first I was disappointed that I had to go to a website for the answers to test questions, but it was well worth the effort! The website does not just give you those answers, it provides you with information in other formats as well. The more I accessed, the happier I got as it provided a wealth of information in different formats to help the studying effort. They had sample NCLEX questions for each chapter/drug category, as well as answers to case studies. Especially helpful were the printable flashcards provided that contain all the information you would ever need. I am thrilled with my purchase and would highly recommend it as a study guide. I did not purchase the original textbook.
