Good info, but hard to get through

For all intents and purposes, this is a great book. When you need information about something specific, you'll get it. The biggest problem comes when you're reading for class - it's very repetitive and wordy. Makes it hard to get through when you have other classes to read for at the same time! I'd recommend it, but keep in mind that it will be harder to get through than some other books would be.

This was a mandatory book for my Acute Care class. Everyone in my class absolutely hated it. It's poorly organized, the smallest font possible, and 40-70 pages per chapter of straight text and very little diagrams to help visualize. The study guide was good, but some of the answers weren't able to be even located in the text. By the end of the semester most people just gave up on reading it and purchased their own Med-Surg study guides or review books. I also own the Textbook of Medical Surgical Nursing by Brunner and Suddarth and was much happier with the ease of reading and the organization, as well as explanatory diagrams and a font that was a lot larger.
