This is a must!

I wasn't sure if I should purchase this at first or not. I was not in need of a planner since I use a palm pilot to keep track of my appointments and school work. I was just going to purchase RN-notes instead since it has a lot of information. I ended up buying both. I highly recommend this book/planner. The first half is a book with 177 pages of information about nursing school and things that will be SO helpful and enlightening to new students, and it will also be useful after graduation as well. I feel much more prepared to start school in a few weeks after reading this. RN-notes is great for clinicals or practing nurses, but it won't help you much with being introduced to the field. Buy both, and you're set!

I know for a fact that I'd benefit from this planner 100%, not just at the time being but for as long I will be practicing nursing. I'm a student nurse and this is just a total must-have! Makes a great gift, too. What a thoughtful idea! It really helps to eliminate some if not most of the fears a student nurse is most likely to encounter. This is definitely not just another planner. You'd feel armed with just the right stuffs necessary to thrive while in nursing school, doing clinicals, and yes, I'd like to add, what a good item for the NCLEX review!

I just purchased this planner yesterday and after reading through it, I too agree with the rest of the reviews....it's excellent for fisrt year nursing students!!!! This book should be recommended in all first year nursing programs. ALthough i would like for the calendar section to be less time consuming for the student, I find this planner to be helpful.

Description: This fourth edition of an introduction to epidemiology's principles and applications follows the same structure as the 2004 edition while presenting new and updated information and using color graphs and pictures to make epidemiologic concepts easier to understand. 

Purpose: Many professionals apply methods and concepts derived from epidemiology. Moreover, the lay public needs to be educated in its basic principles, particularly since epidemiologic research involves human subjects and their participation is vital for valid results and inferences. Therefore, a book like this is extremely important to the field.

Audience: It addresses a large audience interested in epidemiology as a basic science for disease prevention and an important part of public health policy development and evaluation. The author targets a broad group of professionals in different disciplines, as well as the public at large. A good book for an introductory epidemiology course. It has short, easy-to-read chapters with lots of diagrams, tables, and graphs to clearly and concisely present information in the text.

Excellent book. It contains enough information to give someone like me, a novice, an overview of what epidemiology is and its important concepts. However, it's not overwhelming. The pictures go well with the text, and the occasional cartoon -and other funny bits- make the book even better! Highly recommended!

One of the most complete reference GI pathology texts out there.

Personally, I have found this book to be one of the most complete and comprehensive GI pathology textbooks out there on the market now. I love it because it also covers the liver, pancreas and biliary tract, making it the prefect one-stop, one volume GI textbook. I will say that at times the pictures are not the largest but the quality is excellent....just my thoughts.

A must-have for all pathology residents and practicing pathologists

Everything you need to know about gastrointestinal pathology is in this book and it's really complete. Every entity is discussed from the most common to the rarest ones and accompanied by representative pictures. The differential diagnosis is well discussed and in this regards, lots of tables have been added from the previous edition. You just can't go wrong with this book as a pathology resident, gastrointestinal fellow or practicing pathologist. The fact that you can access the text, references and images online is awesome!

It's a nearly complete reference guide for all gastrointestinal pathology topics, including tubal gut, liver and pancreatico-biliary tree, all in one convenient volume. Each entity is thoroughly discussed, with numerous accompanying images that complement the text and clearly illustrate the relevant pathology. One of the best features of this edition is the online version, which provides easy access to the book from any computer at any location at any time. It's an invaluable resource for a fellow in training or for anyone needing to learn GI pathology.

the language of medicene is in laymens terms!

"the language of medicene" is a very well written text with great pictures. illustrations are shown in extreme clarity with very well written explenations- no guess work as to exactly what you are looking at and nothing shown that you don't need. everything is explained in highly understandable terms. you don't really need an expanded knowledge in anatomy and physiology to understand this text. i believe that anyone with a general high school biology knowledge would do just fine. everything is explained clearly in laymans terms. i have had a few texts similar to this in the past and this one by far was much easier to understand. i highly suggest this text over many other terminology books. if you can get a copy that comes with a cd it is actually pretty cool. spelling bee vocabulary and terminology, graphical matching and terminology matching are just a few examples of studying guides that the cd has to offer. there are games like "million dollar pyramid", "wheel of terminology" and more in the "arcade" section. there really are more study aids on the cd than i can mention. if you get a copy definatly don't pass up the cd!

Excellent Book - Recommend!

I was required to purchase this book and learn it for my Physician Assistant Masters Program and I love it...

It has detailed explanations of words and examples- plenty of pictures to match and many many exercises for practice. One of the Cds is a practice CD with entertaining games which make studying terminology fun as well as informative. I definitely think this is an excellent buy if you want to learn medical terminology with speed and ease. At the end of each chapter is a pronunciation guide (as well as a separate accompaning CD) which i find extremely useful. It is well organized and contains some physiology as well which just gets me even more prepared for the classes to come. Easy to use and understan even if you have never learned anatomy or physiology.
