Although at first glance, this book appeared to be quite useful, and it does include a large amount of studies and further reading - almost all of the studies pulled from are quite dated, espeically for a second edition...leaving one to wonder what they updated. It does not go nearly as in-depth about some behavior issues as other books. Plus, it has blatant bad ideas - like recommending a rawhide while the owners are not in attendence. Perhaps that was a novel idea 20 years ago....now we worry about it getting lodged in their throats. Want to cure a dog from cat or cattle chasing? Tie a portion of a dead one to the dog's neck until it decays. Seriously?! Her reference from that - back in 1977. I would not waste my money on this - the BSAVA did a much much better job with their behavioural medicine manual. Unfortunately...their price reflects that, being about double what this book is currently worth. Save your money for a new edition or better research, and most importantly...opt for a different author.

Amazing text, MUST HAVE!

Being a relatively young veterinarian, I had not had much training in canine behavior in veterinary school. Nor have I had the opportunity to gain additional knowledge while in practice, aside from a few tidbits here and there. The problem I had with other behavior texts was that they seemed to be entirely based upon opinion and one's personal experiences. While this book has that, the aspect that makes this such a wonderful text is at the end of each chapter there are literally hundreds of references and a bibliography. Having seen that, not only does it provide reference for additional reading material, its presence substantiates this book as a true scientific and objective approach to canine behavior. I feel comfortable that in reading this book, it will not only prove to be a reliable text, but its lengthy references establishes the claims the author(s) have made.

I recommend this book to anyone who is looking to learn the theory of canine behavior. It is through reading this text will you then be able to gain the knowledge base to objectively interpret other behavior books written from the subjective experiences of those authors.

Great Study Guide

I had originally planned on reading the Core Curriculum text, but then realized that wasn't going to happen. Instead, I just did the review questions in this book. It is divided by topic and gives rationales for all the answers in the book. I went through the book once and passed my NICU RNC exam on my first try.

Good photos, not great on treatment recommendations

This book fills one need in that it provides a lot of photos of normal dental rads to compare to the photos of abnormal rads. In other words, it makes it easy to figure out if you are looking at disease on dental radiographs. This book falls short in one area, and that is providing guidance on what treatment is warranted in what situation. It illustrates what disease looks like, but doesn't say when you should leave a tooth in place vs extraction vs root canal, etc.

Not User Friendly

This "virtual world" was not very user-friendly (and I am preety familiar with computers and programs). Our class had to have this disc and book for RN school OB/Peds class to supplement the textbook. It is supposed to be like going to the actual hospital, but its really more of a pain in the rump! If you are not required to purchase this...then DON'T! =)

great book for boards

This book is perfect for head and neck anatomy courses and for the National Boards Part I. The pictures are very clear, the complex anatomy is laid out methodically and logically. I've used other general anatomy books, but they fall short when it comes to head and neck. This book does not, and even includes clinical pearls for the future and current dental professional.

This has been an excellent book to clear your all doubts of the anatomy of the head and neck with the best figures i have ever seen and excellent discriptions.This book let u do all the anatomy within very short period of time just by looking at the figures.I find this book extremly useful in my studies and I want u all to know that this book is relly really helpful
