I had the opportunity to review 3 of the chapters online before getting my own copy, and I recommend it highly for medical school/hospital libraries, and for ID/public health workers who are involved in vaccine projects or research. For example chapter 17 on J-E vaccine is thoroughly researched and current, and it is great to have details of all vaccines types and where they are used in one easy-to retrieve resource. The online/Cd is also a bonus, adding great value to the book.

A great go-to book.

From a nursing student:

Upon my first semester of nursing school, I found myself unsure of what was expected of me as a student nurse. However, after reading this book, I began to understand the core concepts of nursing, and what it means to be a nurse.

Now, in my last year of nursing school, I found myself returning to this book, as it is a great asset to a student nurse as it provides a means of answering quick questions that come up later. (Even includes an excellent index that helps to use as a reference book down the road.)

Would recommend to other student nurses, or existing nursing who would like a great reference.

The prices was right and the item shipped flawlessly

The item was as expected, it came packaged well and quickly. I had ordered several books from Amazon for school and they came shipped from several areas of the country and with different shipping formats, from UPS to DHL to USPS, I wish they would all come using the same method.

The book itself was defined under the requirements of the class I am taking so I can not comment on the quality of the material in the book.

Fundamental of Nursing - Not so fundamental

This textbook is required for our Nursing program, so it was not a personal selection. I am frustrated by the misspellings and lack of proof-reading that is evident in this text.

However, the quantity of material is impressive, as is the focus on "Action Plans" and "Nursing Diagnoses". These are very helpful to first-time healthcare providers like me.

The CD that accompanies the book is the same as the online content. And basic skills like bedmaking are nowhere to be visualized.

This book has a great explanation and an image for just about anything you need in OB/Gyn sonography. I'm studying for my boards now and I am constantly referring to it. It's a book that I will use forever.

Good content and pictures, worth the purchase

First, I would like to note that the book was a little bit damaged when it arrived. I decided not to return it because it was in acceptable shape and I did not want to waste time in the process. But amazon should put more attention to the way they pack books.
The book itself is great. It is very well written and the pictures are of excellent quality, plus lots of great drawings and tables. Do not look elsewhere, this is it.

Callen et al have reasonably updated their image gallery (especially for the cardiac section) in this latest edition. Much of the remaining information (including tables, graphs, and figures) is directly carried-over from prior editions.

A comprehensive text that covers all aspects of heart failure. Needs a new edition as quite a bit of new data has emerged to modify AHA/ACC guidelines for heart failure. Good reference for those planning to take the Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant boards this year. Its main competitor is UpToDate; I am unaware of a similar text.

Overall, a solid overview but a bit verbose and not as user friendly as it could be. It seems at times that it is caught in between being a text book and reference book. The mechanistic chapters of heart disease are well written and concise...the true strength of the book
